About

Kasey Compton is an entrepreneur, author, and community builder based in Somerset, Kentucky. As the founder of Mindsight Behavioral Group and a nationally recognized consultant for healthcare practice owners, Kasey has built her career around helping others grow, both personally and professionally. But at her core, she’s always been a creator and storyteller.

The Hip Kiln was born from that creative spirit and a desire to bring something different to the community. What started as a paint-your-own pottery studio quickly evolved into a vibrant, experience-driven space where people can slow down, connect, and make something meaningful with their hands.

As interest in hands-on creativity, and specifically clay work, began to grow, Kasey saw an opportunity to expand beyond traditional studio offerings. What started as curiosity quickly turned into demand, with more people asking for access to tools, materials, and space to create on their own time. In response, she created The Workroom at The Hip Kiln, a 24/7 pottery studio designed for makers who want more flexibility, autonomy, and depth in their craft.

The Workroom offers members around-the-clock access to wheels, tools, and materials in a dedicated creative space, giving both beginners and experienced artists the freedom to explore clay at a pace and on a schedule that fit their needs. It has quickly become a hub for creativity, connection, and continued learning within the community.

At the heart of The Hip Kiln is a belief that storytelling is just as important as the pottery itself. Through the Kilnfolk Collection, Kasey has created a line of work rooted in meaning, each piece inspired by real people, memories, and moments that deserve to be remembered. These collections invite customers not only to create but also to connect their pieces to something deeper, turning everyday pottery into something personal, emotional, and lasting.

Located in the heart of Somerset, The Hip Kiln blends art, nostalgia, and storytelling with a modern, welcoming atmosphere. From themed events and private parties to its signature mobile pottery trailer, the studio offers more than just pottery; it offers moments. Whether it’s a mother and daughter painting side by side, friends celebrating milestones, or someone rediscovering their creativity for the first time in years, The Hip Kiln exists to create connection through creativity.

Kasey’s vision for The Hip Kiln has always been about more than art. It’s about building a place where people feel inspired, seen, and part of something. Every detail, from the studio design to the experiences offered, reflects that mission.

Because at The Hip Kiln, it’s never just about what you make, it’s about what it means, who it’s for, and the story it carries long after you leave.
